As the story of people and angels spin from my fingertips, the history is a huge piece.
Current stories have moved from days in the 19th century through the years to times closer to the 21st century.
1800’s
“The Devereau Jewel” features people growing with the country and economy, embracing new industry while taking care of family memories and valuable treasure. Henry successfully builds railroad business in the latter part of the 19th century…until circumstances take his life away from his lovely young bride. How will she carry on alone to protect their unborn babies and the Devereau emerald which represents so much of the family treasure.
1900s
Emalyn’s Treasure carries characters through social struggles fighting progress in early 20th century Ireland. Emalyn, her father and beloved Owen contributed beautiful and right things in their lives; then contributed their lives as Emalyn embraced her treasured time with an angel.
Some of those characters carry on in The Beggar’s Miracle to fulfil stories of the Magdalene Laundries, a topic that might work on paper, but was rife with judgment, corruption and abuse in Irish society. A generous man, a beggar himself, shares what he has to provide survival to a traumatized and abused girl. That miracle opened social and spiritual opportunities to bring some peace to a mother and child.
2000s
My personal experience with angels gave me inspiration for stories and strength to do the wonderfully right thing in the 21st century. Building on and expanding my own family history as caregiver for my mother led to the popular modern book “Mother, Can You Hear Me?” The precious days my brother and I spent with Mother made us stronger, more whole children for her. At this time of our lives, we accepted and took on responsibilities that once had been hers for us. I believe my days with Mother released a sense of the angelic paranormal for my writing that hadn’t been available to me before.
Into the Future Through the Past
I may not write about specifically real people in my paranormal fiction. But I do write about people who COULD be real. People who in that reality would have a history. Inspired research leads down trails of interesting detail to fill out the story of these characters who could be real. I say ‘inspired’ because I love history. And I love the way I can find beautiful, obscure days in time that could be a part of my fictional person’s life.
Some of the stories ‘in progress’ and soon to be released find days in several levels of the past which all weave together to become a tapestry for a life. A life where angels and paranormal events are vital threads in the tapestry to confirm faith and power beyond the everyday
