Helping Hands Press asked five questions about Joy Ross Davis (my writing muse). The real me and my muse are closely connected. Life experiences blend with other tools such as photos to bring inspiration to the muse and me. A recent post with my answers was published at the HHP Blog — Five Question with Joy Ross Davis.
Life experiences from the past and from every day with my beloved dogs and friends keep the writing juices flowing. They are all adopted and have stories that keep coming to the surface. While their stories inspire me, they are teaching me every day about love, trust, loyalty and simple fun. I want to maintain these qualities with and in the characters in my writing. I want them to know they can trust me to love them. To know that I will be loyal to their voice while some simple fun will have my neighbors wondering who is telling jokes in my house! I want the characters to carry the same qualities into the stories — readers are hungry for some loyalty, love, trust, and fun. Enough dull, empty drama, already!
Just as I find inspiration in photos for characters and settings, I enjoy watching movies. Helping Hands Press asked for Five favorites and I could list them easily. I watch for the plot and the characters, the special effects and the little things that might have been unscripted, but survived the editing. I want to include little gems in my stories that fit so neatly they survive the editing and bring some magical spice to the readers.
Yes, HHP — My faith is a huge contributor to the work of the muse. The foundation of every novel stands firmly on my belief in God as all-powerful. Clear, plain and simple!
We closed the conversation with some comments about my favorite season. I encourage you to learn why late autumn is my favorite time of year.
When you read the details of my answers to the five questions (I put a lot into them), I hope you will enjoy the other posts about the authors, books and stories that are published at Helping Hands Press.
